Caine Prize for African Writing 2027
The Caine Prize for African Writing
You'll apply on caineprize.com. Artist Radar never submits for you.
Overview
Africa's best-known short story prize. Publishers (not authors) submit one published story of 3,000–10,000 words by an African writer. Submissions for the 2027 prize open in late November 2026.
The prize is for published short fiction by African writers — a national of an African country, or someone with an African-born or African-national parent. Stories must have been published (not self-published) in the eligibility window. Authors cannot enter themselves: the publisher submits, with the author's consent.
